OAK VILLAGE APARTMENTS - OAKLAND , CA
Our goals are to empower residents and support self sufficiency by providing supportive services. Programs are offered at no cost to our residents. Listed below are some of the services provided, including but not limited to:
1. The Computer Center
- The computer classes are being taught to all interested residents at the on-site computer center. The computer education begins with the computer instructor assessing the skill level of each participant. The instructor then works with each resident to help them individually and as a class, effectively navigate computer programs, the internet and other computer capabilities. The goal of computer education is to empower the families and support increased education and independence.

- Job Preparation
- Job search and employment assistance
- Individual assessment and employment plan
- Career Counseling and support groups
- Case Management
- Job retention services – five year follow-up system to ensure that job placement is a smooth transition
3. Youth Services
- Tutoring and homework assistance
- Computer Education
- Structured activities
4. CATS
- Community Access Ticket Service (CATS) provides all interested residents with weekly tickets to numerous cultural opportunities in the Bay Area. The residents at Oak Village receive FREE tickets to various cultural and entertainment events. Such as: Plays, musicals, operas, baseball games and much more. This program gives the residents at Oak Village the access to activities and shows that they might not normally be able to afford or know about.
5. Workshops
- A specialized Washington Mutual Representative provided a CALHFA homebuyer workshop for the residents. The workshop focused on outlining the array of services, products and low income loans they provide. In addition, The local Washington Mutual Volunteer will provide free financial classes to develop residents’ money management skills (checking and saving accounts), helping them manage and maintain their income, thereby ensuring financial stability.

- Credit and financial counseling will be conducted on-site to our residents. Consumer Credit Counseling offers:
- Credit counseling
- Debt and housing counseling
- Training and education on the wise use of credit
- Development of finance knowledge
- Financial classes to develop residents’ money management skills (checking and saving accounts), helping them manage and maintain their income, thereby ensuring financial stability.
